Academic Calendar, Course Program (Detailed Breakdown)

The detailed list of courses per semester of the MSc “Therapeutic Exercise,” which has a duration of three (3) academic semesters, is presented below. The teaching schedule is organized according to the academic calendar of the University of Patras, and each semester includes:

  • In-person education: Three (3) Friday–Sunday weekend sessions per semester
  • Synchronous distance learning: Every Wednesday afternoon
  • Asynchronous learning through the e-class platform
  • The timetable for courses and examinations of each semester is announced at least 10 days before the beginning of the semester

The duration of study is full-time and corresponds to a total of 90 ECTS credits, with 30 ECTS credits per semester.

Detailed Course Schedule

1st Semester (Winter Semester) – 30 ECTS

4 compulsory courses:

  1. MTE-101: Research Methodology in Health Sciences
    Subject Area: Basic principles of research methodology, study design, and statistical analysis.
  2. MTE-102: Applied Biomechanics of Therapeutic Exercise
    Subject Area: Movement analysis, biomechanical assessment, and application in rehabilitation.
  3. MTE-103: Therapeutic Exercise Design
    Subject Area: Individualization of exercise programs, exercise protocols, supervision, and adaptation.
  4. MTE-104: Therapeutic Exercise – Spinal Manual Therapy
    Subject Area: Applications of mobilization and manipulation techniques in combination with exercise.

2nd Semester (Spring Semester) – 30 ECTS

4 compulsory courses:

  1. MTE-201: Postgraduate Research Design
    Subject Area: Development of research proposals, ethics, and literature review
  2. MTE-202: Advanced Sports Physiotherapy
    Subject Area: Management of sports injuries, injury prevention, and rehabilitation training.
  3. MTE-203: Therapeutic Interventions in Neurorehabilitation
    Subject Area: Contemporary approaches to neurological conditions and rehabilitation of motor impairments.
  4. MTE-204: Special Topics in Exercise and Rehabilitation
    Subject Area: Exercise in chronic conditions, special populations, and contemporary approaches in rehabilitation.

3rd Semester (Autumn or Spring Semester) – 30 ECTS

Master’s Thesis:

  • MTE-301: Master’s Thesis
    Students undertake, under the supervision of a faculty member, the design, conduct, and presentation of a research project on a topic related to therapeutic exercise.
    The thesis is publicly presented and evaluated by a three-member examination committee.
