Purpose & Mission

The MSc “Therapeutic Exercise” of the Department of Physiotherapy at the University of Patras aims to provide high-level postgraduate education to healthcare professionals who wish to specialize in the application of exercise as a therapeutic intervention. Its objective is to develop physiotherapists with advanced theoretical training, critical thinking, and practical skills, capable of responding to the growing needs of prevention, rehabilitation, and improvement of patients’ quality of life.

The mission of the Program is summarized as follows:

  • Production and dissemination of specialized knowledge in the field of therapeutic exercise, with emphasis on evidence-based clinical practice and applied research.
  • Development and enhancement of research skills through the active participation of students in the study, design, and conduct of research projects.
  • Development of healthcare professionals with ethical responsibility, scientific rigor, and an interdisciplinary perspective, capable of designing and implementing comprehensive exercise programs for individuals with chronic conditions, injuries, or disabilities.
  • Promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration and academic mobility at both national and international levels, strengthening the role of physiotherapy within the healthcare system.
  • Support for the academic and professional development of graduates, both in clinical practice and in research or educational settings.

The Program is designed in accordance with the needs of contemporary society and international developments in the science of physiotherapy, contributing substantially to the improvement of healthcare service quality and the advancement of scientific knowledge.
